“Art holds out the promise of inner wholeness,” British philosopher Alain de Botton wrote in Art as Therapy

De Botton contends that in the nineteenth century, culture supplanted sacred text as our way of life's protest of love, yet we are never again permitted to convey our feelings of dread and nerves to this cutting edge church
“It is simply not acceptable to bring the aches and pains of our souls to the guardians of culture,” he laments.
We are extremely helpless, delicate animals in urgent need of help and we for the most part don't get it.
The enlighment trough Craftsmanship
Craftsmanship can be a wellspring of assistance with our issues — our deepest issues — the issues of the spirit. . . . Craftsmanship can be a type of self improvement and there is nothing belittling about the idea of self improvement — just the manner by which some of self improvement has been done as such far, yet there is nothing amiss with it as an idea. . . .
There is nothing amiss with art today. It's not the craftsmanship that is the issue — it's the casing around the workmanship. We are essentially not urged to force ourselves to show-stoppers. . . . The effect of workmanship is regularly not what it ought to be on account of the edge isn't right.
